HAILSHAM MUSEUM HERITAGE CENTRE is open for the Season until the end of October. It will be open to visitors every Friday and Saturday from 10am to 12.30pm and is located between the Kemer Kebab shop and the old Lloyds Bank building and behind the Town Council offices. Entry is free and it is an amazing collection of local historical items. Whether you are interested in old photographs of the town, its ropemaking or farming industries, you will find lots of things of interest here and knowledgeable volunteers from the Hailsham Historical Society will be on hand to answer any questions. Local schools and visits from groups are also welcome and for particularly large groups, bookings outside normal operational hours enquiries can be made by emailing info@hailshamhistoricalsociety.co.uk. Visit the website to find out more at www.hailshamhistoricalsociety.co.uk. Barretts Homes recently made a donation to the Society and the money has been used to buy a laptop and software so that the Society can document and sort records and collections for easier retrieval well into the future.

The Society is also applying for accreditation so that the museum remains feasible and more visible into the future and may be able to open more days.

LAURA’S FUNDRAISING DANCETHON

LAURA’S 24 HOUR DANCEATHON is a fundraiser in support of Wayfinder Woman charity taking place over from midday on the 15 and 16 May.

This is a fundraiser in lieu of Laura’s 70th birthday. She has been in training for several months and is being joined by various local dance studio teachers and individuals who will be keeping her company for around an hour at a time throughout the 24 hours. She will be trying many different dance styles from Rave to Line Dancing, Salsa to ballet, 70s disco to Tango and Jive to traditional Indian dancing and lots more.

She would love it if anyone would like to join her over the 24 hours for a small donation to keep her going and for the fun then just book on the website, so she knows you are coming. You could even learn a few steps if you wish by joining in. If you would like to donate you can go to the website www.wayfinderwoman.org.uk and you will find her posters and flyers around town with a QR code to donate and find more details or go to https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/danceathon2026.

Every step, every song and every hour danced represents a woman who needs support and she needs your help. Dance with her, donate and share this event. If you cannot be there in person, you can join the event virtually and watch the livestream, you could even have a party at home and raise money at the same time.
