YOUNG AT HEART CLUB: JAN’S BAKE DAY

TALK: MY LIFE AS A GARDENER AT PENHURST PLACE – Jay Ashworth

WINDMILL HILL HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY next meets on 2 April when Jay Ashworth presents a talk, My Life as a Gardener. Jay is from Penhurst Place and will be speaking to

members about working in the beautiful gardens of Penhurst Place. Penhurst Place has a

beautiful and peaceful garden set in the Sussex countryside. Come and hear about what

THE WINDMILL AT WINDMILL HILL OPENING

THE WINDMILL AT WINDMILL HILL will open for visitors at Easter, and then every Sunday and bank holiday Monday from 2.30pm to 5pm through to mid-September. If you have not visited before or even if you have, make a point of coming to it us in 2026, its 30th anniversary year. There is a wide range of special events, activities and workshops, including sourdough bread-making, basket-weaving and special anniversary tours. There is also flour for sale, milled in the roundhouse of this 200-year-old landmark. You can buy our flour at the windmill or from The Little Bake Shop in the centre of Herstmonceux. All proceeds from flour sales go towards the maintenance of the mill.

COMMUNITY COFFEE STOP

THE COMMUNITY COFFEE STOP next get together is on Monday 30 March from 10am to 12 noon. Go along and join in. Everyone welcome. There is tea, coffee and biscuit for £1 along with cake and cheese scones to buy. Bring friends and make new ones at Herstmonceux Village Hall.

HISTORY TALK: WEALDEN IRON INDUSTRY

WEALDEN IRON INDUSTRY will be the subject of a talk at the next meeting of Hailsham Historical & Natural History Society by Jeremy Hodgkinson on 1 April at the Charles Hunt Centre. Doors open at 7pm for 7.30 start. Jeremy will be talking about Wealden Iron Industry from the Iron Age to the 19th Century.
