ART IS ART 25, ART EXHIBITION

The Friday Art Group presents a stunning array of affordable original art and crafts by local artists and makers in aid of The Children with Cancer Fund.

Craft stalls, delicious homemade refreshments

Free entry, free parking, large car park, wheelchair access.

PROMS IN THE PARK

This lively community celebration, taking place for the first time this year, combines entertainment with an important cause – raising funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice (Eastbourne). The event promises an enjoyable afternoon designed to be shared, offering live music, family-friendly activities and a welcoming atmosphere for all ages.

Bring blankets, folding chairs and picnic treats to create their own space and soak up the entertainment. Hot food and refreshments, including freshly prepared jacket potatoes, will also be available from Ye Olde Spud Shoppe.

At the heart of the event will be a live performance from Warbleton Brass Band, whose varied programme of well-known tunes and modern favourites is set to appeal to audiences of all generations.

Younger visitors – and the young at heart – can enjoy a range of free entertainment throughout the afternoon, including close-up magic, balloon modelling and a traditional Punch and Judy show hosted by Jonathan Cann. Hailsham FM will also be present to help capture the spirit of the occasion.

Lighting of New Beacon – Also taking place during the Prom in the Park event will be the official opening of the new beacon at the Western Road Recreation Ground. The ceremony will feature a costumed procession led by the Hailsham Bonfire Society, followed by the lighting of the beacon. The new beacon will provide a striking focal point for civic celebrations and major community events throughout the year.

HELLINGLY WATER MILL TURNING

Our last waterwheel turning of the year is on Bank Holiday Monday – 25th August at 11am.

You’re welcome to see the wheel turn, come into the watermill to see the workings inside (subject to your own risk), chat about the history here and wander round the riverside garden.

There is no charge. Children are welcome but should be supervised and dogs must be kept on a lead.

Watermill House, Mill Lane, Hellingly. BN27 4EY.

Please note parking here isn’t great so you might want to park at the Old Station Car Park and walk up the Cuckoo Trail.

Murder Mystery Supper

Three fearless actors will enact a sinisterly silly scenario involving motives, alibis, and a suspicious number of monocles.

Guests form teams to solve the case — with bonus points awarded for flair and panache. The winning sleuths receive a prize so dazzling we can’t legally describe it without sunglasses.

Expect razor-sharp wit, reckless accusations, suspicious canapés, and a prize for whichever team cracks the case without causing a full-scale diplomatic incident.

A night of murder, mayhem, and mild hysteria! Ticket price includes food from Ye Olde Spud Shoppe. Bring your own drinks.

Advance booking only: Tickets available from www.hailshamfestival.co.uk
