TALK to U3A MEETING by MEDITECH TRUST

MEDITECH TRUST are giving a talk to U3A members at their meeting on 28 April. Please note the change of venue on this occasion to the James West Community Centre, Brunel Drive, Hailsham BN27 3FX, at 2pm. Founded in 2002, Medi Tech Trust is a UK registered charity. It is dedicated to donating equipment and supplies to medical institutions; arranging training courses for surgeons in low income countries; and advancing health care education in the community.

Medical equipment and surgical consumables worth £ millions have already been donated to hospitals in the UK and overseas. They are transforming patients’ experience through donating modern medical equipment ensuring less invasive surgery and faster recovery. Meditech is based in the Swan Barn Business Centre in Hailsham. Non-members are welcome to attend this interesting talk for £2 entry.

LAURA’S FUNDRAISING DANCETHON

LAURA’S 24 HOUR DANCEATHON is a fundraiser in support of Wayfinder Woman charity taking place over from midday on the 15 and 16 May.

This is a fundraiser in lieu of Laura’s 70th birthday. She has been in training for several months and is being joined by various local dance studio teachers and individuals who will be keeping her company for around an hour at a time throughout the 24 hours. She will be trying many different dance styles from Rave to Line Dancing, Salsa to ballet, 70s disco to Tango and Jive to traditional Indian dancing and lots more.

She would love it if anyone would like to join her over the 24 hours for a small donation to keep her going and for the fun then just book on the website, so she knows you are coming. You could even learn a few steps if you wish by joining in. BLACKSTOCK COMEDY NIGHT

The event is in the barn of the Blackstock Country Estate with an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet. Doors open at 6pm. The line-up is “a proper one” with Tevin Everett opens, then Olivia Post and Richard Stainbank in the middle, with Brendan Dempsey closing. Compere for the night is Dave Thompson. EAST SUSSEX HUSTINGS

Arrive at 6.30 for a 6.45pm prompt start. This will give you the opportunity to meet the Candidates for the East Sussex Council Elections and will be your chance to hear directly from those vying to represent you. The event invites members of the Sussex Weald constituency to attend a lively evening of election debate when you will also be given the chance to understand their priorities and plans, ask questions about issues that matter to you and your business. This is a free event, however a ticket is required from Eventbrite for one ticket per person, first come, first served. Please bring this with you for entry. There will be bag checks and doors will be closed at 6.45 sharp. Pre-submitted and audience questions will be put to candidates who will give opening statements, respond to key topics and deliver closing remarks. Free parking is available on site.
