HAILSHAM BONFIRE CELEBRATIONS will be taking place in the town on Saturday 18 October evening. Processions followed by fireworks at Western Road Recreation Ground. Programmes are available to buy throughout the Town and will show the timings of the processions, the routes and the start of the firework display. There will be loud bangs throughout and some rolling road closures in place.
ARLINGLTON VILLAGE MARKET AND MUSEUM is ready to greet you again on Tuesday 14 October from 10am to 12 noon at Arlington village hall BN26 6SE. Everyone is very welcome to visit the market and pop-up museum. Regular stalls include traditional fresh bread, cakes and fresh egg, homemade cakes and savouries, bric-a-brac supporting local charities, second hand books about the local area, sundries, jewellery, cards, crafts and lots more. Arlington’s Pop-Up Museum will also be taking place at the same time. The month the exhibit features The Cuckmere Pilgrim Path, a circular walk of about 12 miles over varying terrain taking walkers on a pilgrimage around seven ancient rural churches. It passes through the beautiful landscape of the South Downs, Low Weald and Cuckmere Valley. It is a very sociable morning and there is always tea and cake. This lively community celebration, taking place for the first time this year, combines entertainment with an important cause – raising funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice (Eastbourne). The event promises an enjoyable afternoon designed to be shared, offering live music, family-friendly activities and a welcoming atmosphere for all ages.
Bring blankets, folding chairs and picnic treats to create their own space and soak up the entertainment. Hot food and refreshments, including freshly prepared jacket potatoes, will also be available from Ye Olde Spud Shoppe.
At the heart of the event will be a live performance from Warbleton Brass Band, whose varied programme of well-known tunes and modern favourites is set to appeal to audiences of all generations.
Younger visitors – and the young at heart – can enjoy a range of free entertainment throughout the afternoon, including close-up magic, balloon modelling and a traditional Punch and Judy show hosted by Jonathan Cann. Hailsham FM will also be present to help capture the spirit of the occasion.
