STAINED GLASS WINDOW WORKSHOP

A STAINED GLASS WORKSHOP where you can create your own stained glass masterpiece is taking place at Herstmonceux Castle over a two-day workshop on 14th and 15th March from 10.30am to 4.30pm. Over two days, you will design and create your own stained-glass panel using traditional techniques under the guidance of renowned artist Kirsty Brooks. This course is perfect for complete beginners or those with some experience. You will learn how to cut, lead, solder and cement glass, explore colour, light and texture and build a beautiful hanging panel of 6–12 pieces. All basic materials are included and you will leave with a stunning, handmade piece to keep or gift. Book now, as places are limited at Herstmonceux-castle.com/events. SUSSEX DAY CELEBRATION

SUSSEX DAY will be celebrated in Hailsham with a free community event. The High Street will be closed so that visitors can enjoy a beer tent, market stalls selling locally sourced products and a full programme of live entertainment. Highlights include traditional maypole dancing by local Brownies, performances by Hailsham Choral Society (including ‘Sussex by the Sea’), the Sussex Stompers and Long Man Morris Dancers. Families will enjoy close-up magic, balloon modelling and a Punch and Judy show with Hailsham FM providing coverage and music. Shops and businesses will be dressing their windows for a best dressed window competition.

COFFEE MORNING FUNDRAISER

The Friends of Hellingly Church’s first Friends event of the year is on Saturday 21 March from 10am to 12 noon in the church. There will be the usual cake stall, raffle, books and delicious cakes and coffee while you sit and natter. They are looking forward to seeing you there. Funds raised will be going to the upkeep of this ancient building. The Friends of Hellingly Church is a group of non-denominational supporters who are preserving the church building for future generations. The Group welcomes all who are interested in, and value this ancient building.

Its purpose is to assist in the raising of funds to help in the maintenance of the fabric of the church. They would like to involve everyone in this quest, regardless of whether they have a religious affiliation.

HOPS QUIZ NIGHT
