DESCRIPTION:This lively community celebration, taking place for the first time this year, combines entertainment with an important cause – raising funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice (Eastbourne). The event promises an enjoyable afternoon designed to be shared, offering live music, family-friendly activities and a welcoming atmosphere for all ages.\nBring blankets, folding chairs and picnic treats to create their own space and soak up the entertainment. Hot food and refreshments, including freshly prepared jacket potatoes, will also be available from Ye Olde Spud Shoppe.\nAt the heart of the event will be a live performance from Warbleton Brass Band, whose varied programme of well-known tunes and modern favourites is set to appeal to audiences of all generations.\nYounger visitors – and the young at heart – can enjoy a range of free entertainment throughout the afternoon, including close-up magic, balloon modelling and a traditional Punch and Judy show hosted by Jonathan Cann. Hailsham FM will also be present to help capture the spirit of the occasion.\nLighting of New Beacon – Also taking place during the Prom in the Park event will be the official opening of the new beacon at the Western Road Recreation Ground. The ceremony will feature a costumed procession led by the Hailsham Bonfire Society, followed by the lighting of the beacon. The new beacon will provide a striking focal point for civic celebrations and major community events throughout the year.\n
